Congratulations to Sara Matherly and Kelly Caravella!

Two of our graduate students, Sara Matherly and Kelly Caravella, will be participating in the South Carolina Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (SC LEND) program during the 2017-2018 year!  SC LEND is a training program with the goal of improving access to healthcare and services for children with disabilities and their families by training various professionals in clinical knowledge, advocacy, cultural competence, etc. We are proud to have them represent our lab in this larger state-wide initiative with MUSC, Greenville Health System and other organizations dedicated to the welfare of South Carolinians.

A big congratulations to Sara Matherly who received $5,000 funding from the University of South Carolina through the SPARC Graduate Research Grant Program! Sara, a graduate student in the School Psychology Ph.D. program, will be attending a training on the Anxiety Disorders Interview Schedule and Autism Spectrum Addendum to capture distinct profiles of anxiety in autism spectrum disorders. This will help to better understand the impact of anxiety across multiple domains impacting young adult independence within cross-syndrome ASD.

Sara Matherly receives travel award for Gatlinburg Conference

The National Fragile X Foundation awarded Sara Matherly a $400 travel award for the 49th Annual Gatlinburg Conference in San Diego, CA.  Her work was entitled: Effect of anxiety disorders on functional daily living skills in young adult males with fragile X syndrome.  Congratulations Sara!
